Background: Ms. Curl received her Bachelor of Arts from University of Missouri-St. Louis, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice, with some coursework in computer database programming. She has a strong working background in database development and management. She is data manager in the Program of Occupational Therapy at Washington University School of Medicine, where she organizes the data entry system, provides programming support, and checks for data entry errors, prepares data for statistical analysis and develops charts and tables for journal articles and final reports, as well as training and supervising data entry personnel. Current projects include the NIDRR studies "AT in the Community", as well as studies where Dr. Gray is collaborating through Washington University with the Paraquad Independent Living Center on the Missouri Foundation for Health project: Health and Wellness Program, and the National Center on Medical Rehabilitation Research study "Rehabilitations Outcome, Community Participation and ICF". Ms. Curl has experience in web page development. She is responsible for assisting with maintaining the Enabling Mobility website and updating the “Accessing Your World” computer program. She assists in brochure, poster and flyer development. Prior to current projects, she managed the data collection for several previous studies. These include studies where Dr. Gray collaborated with the University of Pittsburgh Model Center on Spinal Cord Injury study on the "Influence of Wheelchairs on Participation", the University of Kansas on the "Influence of Self-directed Personal Assistance Services on Participation", as well as the study involving children with Cerebral Palsy for the Centers for Disease Control Grant, “Spasticity and Strength as Indicators for Rhizotomy,” on which Dr. Gray was a co-investigator. This involved development of an assessment tool, data management, and performing subject interviews. She was involved in programming/managing the databases and the development of assessment tools resulting from work on the Centers for Disease Control Grants, “Mobility, Disability, Participation and the Environment” and “Development of a Community Health Environment Checklist”, as well as The University of Michigan study "Ergonomic Solutions for Employment for People with Mobility Limitations". Ms. Curl has done database development and management for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, St. Louis Community College-Meramec, and other studies within Washington University. |
