Bath tubs can often be very inaccessible. However, bathtubs can be adapted to
make bathing easier.
A bath bench gives a place to transfer onto and sit
while showering. Bath benches are available in all shapes and sizes and are
removable.
Adjustable hand held showers are available for minimal cost and can attach to
the bath tub spout, shower spout, or be installed. They can be hooked on a
sliding rail at any height or they can be lifted off and used to rinse
not-so-easy to-rinse-areas.
Grab bars can be installed to assist transfers and increase safety. They can be
installed at any angle and on any wall that has reinforcement.
Anti-slip surfaces can be remedied with suction bath mats and various anti-slip
stickers.
The height of the soap. Wire hangers and various sorts of soap and bottle
holders can be suctioned to the bath wall at any height.
Push soap dispensers. Shampoo
and Conditioner dispensers can be filled and refilled with favorite family
shampoo and suctioned to the wall at any height. This item eliminates the need
to handle a slippery shampoo bottle, flip the cap, pour it out and return the
bottle to the shelf without rinsing the unused soap off the other hand. Some
dispensers have places for three or more liquids.
Towel bar height. Simple, but handy. A lower towel hook or bar near the side
of the tub makes drying off safer and faster when wet.
Faucets with safety. Many companies offer
faucets for the bath that control hot and cold in one knob, are easily
turned with one hand, and have sensors installed within that prevent hot
water that is too hot from being dispensed. These faucets are not only
beneficial for people who have altered temperature sensation, but also
protects children from scalding themselves accidentally.
