MEDICAID vs. MEDICARE

Medicaid is a Missouri state program designed to help disabled persons pay their medical expenses. You do NOT automatically qualify. Medicaid has rules about income which limit eligibility.

Medicare is a similar program, offered in conjunction with Social Security Disability Income or SSDI. After two years on SSDI, you would qualify for Medicare. There is a fee for Medicare, which is deducted from your disability check. It does NOT have rules about income or resources that limit eligibility.
