Transportation Options and Eligibility Criteria

Transportation options for individuals who meet specific eligibility criteria, such as being a Medicare and/or Medicaid recipient, or living in a specific community.

Medicare/Medicaid Eligible Transit

Available City-Wide Transportation (ACT)

Provides transportation to city resident who are 60 years of age or older or individual 18-59 who have disabilities. Transports to medical facilities in the St. Louis area with designated days for county medical facilities.

Age and Residency Criteria Services

St. Louis Area on Aging (SLAAA)

The cost of the service is FREE for eligible, registered participants. SLAAA offers curb-to-curb services to residents of the city of St Louis who are 60+ or are disabled and between 18 and 59 years old.

Demand and Response Transportation System (DARTS)

Major provider of paratransit services in St. Clair County. Part of Belleville Area College Programs and Services for Older Persons.

American Red Cross

Non-emergency transportation for all St. Louis area senior residents and individuals 18 years or older who have a disability. Door-to-door services. $25 round trip minimal for Ambulatory people & $40 minimal round trip for wheelchair or $12.50 one way for first 7 miles & $1.50 each mile after.

Bevo is a transportation service offered to area residents needing to go to the doctor, shopping, for necessary business, such as banking, and bringing them to the senior center. A donation of $1.50 is encouraged each way.

OACAP (Older Adult Community Action Program)

OACAP provides transportation for adults 60 years and older to grocery stores and a MEAAA nutrition site in University City, works with local, state and federal legislators on issues affecting older adults and conducts educational meetings for the community. Door-to-Door services are available. Free of charge but donations are accepted.
